The most challenging aspect of the lab was completing everything on time. All 3 people in my group made different things to add to their plate (noodles, sauce, vegetables). We had to make sure our egg rolls were done well and on time. We also had to work together to make sure we all finished our own parts of the lab. There was a lot going on in the kitchen, but we were able to work together to get it done!

I really liked being able to plate my food differently. We haven’t really done much plating in any of the other cooking classes, so this was a cool experience. I wouldn’t really do anything differently for next time. I thought that plating was a unique aspect of this lab because everybody has different ideas. Plating allows me to be creative and it was probably one of my favorite parts of this lab.

I really liked this unit because we cooked a variety of different Chinese foods I’ve never made before. I liked how I was able to compare some of the foods I’ve eaten before, like the beef and broccoli, with how my group made it. Something I might change would be a choice lab. Each group could choose a 1-2 day recipe so we have the opportunity to make something we are interested in making. Overall, I really liked this unit and the egg roll summaries lab was my favorite.

  1. I agree that time was definitely a struggle! As the semester goes on, I know we’ll learn to be even more efficient! Your plating was by far my favorite in our group! It was really well thought out!
